Big Bear Appoints New Industry/PR Director

Important changes are underway at Big Bear Mountain Resorts. Marty Ward has been hired as the new Industry and Public Relations Director, and will be based at Bear Mountain.

“We interviewed many talented individuals and were impressed with Marty’s experience in the Southern California market, as well as his positive energy, creative ideas and work ethic,” stated Kim Hermon, Asst. Director of Marketing for BBMR. “Marty is an excellent complement to the Big Bear Mountain Resorts marketing department,” added Hermon.

New Hires At Etnies Girl

In response to rapid growth in sales and new product offerings, etnies Girl, manufacturer of action sports footwear, apparel and accessories, is pleased to announce several new additions to their innovative team.

Julie Shumaker was hired as the etnies Girl brand marketing manager to create synergy and cohesion between all departments and to plan and facilitate the brand strategy.

Julie Gormick has joined the team as the etnies Girl domestic sales manager. Gormick has a rich history in action sports, serving as a sales representative and then territory manager for Smith Optics for the past seven years.

Eunjoo Kim is the new apparel designer, who was most recently the head junior’s designer for Ezekiel Clothing.

Mathilde Arvard, a new addition to the footwear design team, was previously the accessories designer for etnies Girl.

Tammy Checkwood is the new surf product manager overseeing the complete line of sandals for both girls and men.

Dragon Hires Chris Abad as Amateur Surf team manager

Dragon Optical is proud to announce the addition of Chris Abad as Dragon's amateur surf team manager. Chris has been a sponsored professional athlete himself on the Dragon team for the past six years and is a great fit to manage an amateur surf team.

Chris joins Dragon from a professional surfing career and working retail at Surfride boardshop. Both have given Chris the understanding he needs professionally and mentally to guide his surfing program. Chris also rides for Dakine, Bodyglove, and Chemistry Surfboards.

Tim Garrett Joins O’Neill Clothing

O’Neill Clothing President and CEO Kelly Gibson announces the appointment of industry veteran Tim Garrett to the position of vice president of marketing, reuniting him with former partner Thom McElroy. McElroy’s efforts will now shift to assume the role of brand consultant.

The action sports specialists and former business partners have a successful history dating back to the mid nineties when Garrett spent 8 years at McElroy:FCB, an action sports marketing firm originally launched by McElroy, as senior vice president and partner.
