Ogio Names Andy Bell VP of Promotions

As OGIO’s motocross team manager, Andy Bell has united some of the nations’ top freestyle and motocross riders to create Team OGIO. Effective today, the 2001 Canadian Freestyle Motocross Champ will take the helm as OGIO’s Vice President of Promotions.

In his new position, Bell will continue partnering with industry leaders to help support the athletes and the sports that OGIO so passionately promotes. In addition, he will expand the company’s fervor into categories that long for OGIO’s gear bag technologies and will continue building its formidable team of professional motocross, freestyle, snowboarding, skateboarding, and BMX athletes.

Big Bear Announces Changes To Marketing Department

Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR), Public Relations Director, Brad Farmer has accepted a new position as Editor of the new Future Snowboard Trade News magazine and will be relocating to North County, San Diego. In addition, he will be following through with the Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails event scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2005. "It has been an incredible run working at BBMR and I will deeply miss all of my coworkers. There is an amazing group of individuals behind the scenes at BBMR and it has been an honor to work with all of them. I am looking forward to my new opportunity with Future Action Sports Group and most of all continuing to work within the snowboard industry," said Farmer.

SIMA Unveils Retail Study

“Knowledge is power,” Sir Francis Bacon proclaimed back in 1597, and it’s still true today. But while the surf and skate markets have experienced some amazing growth, it’s been difficult to answer even basic questions like, “What’s the size of the market?” and “Is it growing or shrinking?”

But this spring the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) hired Leisure Trends Group to conduct a series of 22-minute surveys with a cross-section of retailers from around the country. In all, 404 surf and skate retailers participated.

Von Dutch Footwear Names New Director of Sales, Mark Brasier

Marque Group USA, distributor of Von Dutch Footwear, announced the appointment of Mark Brasier as Director of Sales for Von Dutch Footwear. In his new role, Brasier will be responsible for all facets of national sales for the growing brand including building and managing all independent sales teams. Additionally, Brasier will work directly with the Von Dutch Footwear design and marketing departments and will have a direct hand in brand management.

Quiksilver And Mazda Collaboration

On Wednesday August 2nd, Quiksilver unveiled the first two of its hand-painted Mazda 5s to a limited number of journalists and media elite at its Huntington Beach headquarters.

The “art cars,” designed by Quiksilver artist Randy Noborikawa and Quiksilver Art Director Natas Kaupas, will soon be joined by additional Quik-customized Mazda 5s as part of a fun and innovative campaign to launch Mazda’s newest addition to its roster of vehicles.
