Academy Snowboards Hires New Nor Cal Rep

Academy Snowboards is stoked to welcome aboard Nando Alocer to the sales family.
Nando is a seasoned veteran shredder who has been in this snow game for a while. Nando got his start back in the day with Silence where he helped design and build snowboards. He then moved on to rep several key brands in the past i.e Planet Earth and Supernatural Snowboards. Nando now resides permanently in South Lake Tahoe where he also reps for Technine, Alive Watches, and Neff Headwear and helps the crew out at the Southshore Soldiers Camp. This man definitely cares about the Nor Cal shred scene in addition to shredding as much powder as humanly possible.

New CEO takes Office at ASP International Headquarters

Following an exhaustive search that began in August, 2004, the Association of Surfing Professionals (A.S.P.), the world governing body for professional surfing, has appointed Australian Brodie Carr as their new Chief Executive Officer. More than 280 international applications for the position were received, with final interviews taking place during tour-end events in Hawaii at the close of 2004.

Wings R&D Inc. acquires legendary Bear Surfboards label

California-based Wings Research and Development Inc., out of Newport Beach, today announced the finalization of their acquisition of the legendary BEAR SURFBOARDS label. The acquisition includes all trademark, copyright and ownership rights to the label. Wings R&D takes over from John Millius, a well-known Hollywood director and moviemaker, who sold full rights to the classic label that was popularized in his cult film “Big Wednesday”.

Matix Clothing Adds Gabe Kling, Gusto Gav

Matix Clothing is proud to announce that Gabe Kling has joined the Matix surf team. Twenty-four year old Kling is a smooth and powerful surfer from St. Augustine, Florida. In his first full WQS campaign Kling had his best year ever, moving up 24 spots to 88th in the 2004 year-end rankings. Highlights from the year include two second-place finishes, which took place last summer on the east coast, at the 3-Star Dan Heritage/Rip Curl Pro in New Jersey and the 2-Star WRV Outer Banks Pro in North Carolina.
Matix Clothing would also like to welcome Hell-Man “Gusto Gav” to the surf team. Gusto comes to Matix from a small island in the Pacific Ocean and has a reputation for charging anything and everything. “Gusto Gav” was integral in testing, both in and out of the water, of Matix’s new Gusto-Military Party Trunk. The trunk will be hitting stores along with the rest of the Matix Spring line this February.
